One highlight of our Summer was our Maria Rivans exhibition,
Beachside Matinee which ran July 21st- August 10th.
We were incredibly excited to present the long awaited solo show by Maria Rivans in the South West of England. The exhibition showcased an exclusive selection of original pin ups, landscapes, three dimensional boxes & limited editions prints by the Brighton based artist.
Maria has a unique approach to collaging, her work intertwines fragments of vintage ephemera, with references to film & TV, to spin bizarre and dreamlike tales.

The title of Maria Rivans’ show “Beachside Matinee”, played on the location of our galleries, the work is full of sea-side references; surf boards, sharks, palm trees and coral imagery which found a welcome home in our seaside gallery. A joyous celebration of the natural world, the show was a heady cocktail of Hollywood iconography, life aquatic, and blossoming flora and fauna, all served up with a delicate, vintage twist.
The event was a huge success, bringing a bubble of excitement to Padstow and Salcombe. We were delighted to have Maria attend the exhibition opening, talking about her passion as an artist with all our visitors. It was great to have support from local businesses like BinTwo, and local celebrity Rick Stein.
On top of her excellent summer Maria was recently featured in The Times! We love working with such a talented artist, view our full collection of Maria’s work here.
