Having graduated from Brighton University with a first in Fine Art Painting it is no wonder that Sam Marsh’s pieces are so energetic and dazzling. When painting, Marsh approaches his art concentrating on the material application more than subject, looking at the relationship between colours and their aesthetics. With his ‘Erottery’ pieces, Marsh establishes a protagonist or ‘Hero’ figure, who is often influenced by Horror films and B-movies, as well as the more contemporary themes of blogs and magazines such as Vogue. Marsh also incorporates collage into his works, which are often collected from books and magazines, as well as being sourced from the internet. Sam spends long periods of time writing and drawing in reaction to avant-garde literature, paintings, comedy and music which can then become ideas and energy to be released into his artwork.
