JAMES LEWIN

Of the past 48 days, I have spent 34 exploring Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. I have experienced unforgettable moments during these extraordinary days, from the vast migration herds in the Southern Serengeti, the gorillas high up in the Virunga Mountains to revisiting the Reteti Elephant Sanctuary with the Samburu tribe, and getting within several metres on foot to perhaps Africa's most giant and most elusive Big Tusker elephant.

One of the most rewarding moments was capturing my new release, "Serengeti Shall Never Die." Over the past four years, I have lost count of the number of days I have spent in Serengeti searching for this specific image. To watch it unfold in front of me after four consecutive days with the pride is something I will never forget. Patience pays in wildlife photography, and this image is a clear reminder of that.
