BANKSY

This week Banksy unveiled a new work in Margate – his first on a wall in the UK for 18 months.  "Valentine's Day Mascara" depicts a 1950s-style housewife with a black eye and a missing tooth, smiling as she has apparently pushed her abusive partner into a chest freezer. Banksy published a picture of the work on his Instagram page on Valentine's Day morning and many of the comments suggest he is referencing fighting violence against women. The installation has since been removed, with talks of possible display in a local museum and the intention of raising awareness of domestic violence, as well as raising money for local charities.

The Drang Gallery currently has an exciting portfolio of Banksy works available. Click the link below to view the full collection.
