Carbon Stingray
A sculpture inspired by the Common Stingray found on the Cornwall and Devon coasts.
Engineering methods, materials and selected parts from modern F1 Grand Prix cars are used in the production of this sculpture.
Body: Carbon fibre 4 plies / layers of 2 x 2 twill 200 gsm, gives a thickness of 2.4 mm. Coated with UV resistant clear coat and painted detail.
Eyes: Stainless steel floor stay end pivot ball used in F1.
Spiracle: Titanium lock pin for anti-rotation of steering rack used in F1.
Gill slits: 0.3mm matte white designed Summa D60 cut vinyl.
Cloaca: Keep tag for tether attachment used in F1.
Tail: Air drying foam for chassis sealing used in F1.
Vent fins: 1mm photo etched stainless steel.
Mounting: Lexan vertical platform for 360° vision with F1 gear for weight.
