Matthew Heller is a Los Angeles based artist who creates minimal paintings that use printed text to explore how language is recontextualized, interpreted, and occupies space. Heller’s works highlight his own written texts as well as those from cultural icons like John Lennon and David Bowie.
I describe my work as minimal but with heart, using traditional materials and ideas in unexpected ways aiming to provide viewers an opportunity to have an emotional experience that fosters self-reflection and introspection as well as offering the viewer a new way to experience the familiar. - Matthew Heller
