Description

ANDFJORDEN, NORWAY The hunting techniques of wintering herring used by the orca population of Northern Norway is unique – it is called carousel feeding: Orcas release bursts of bubbles and flash their white undersides, confusing the fish and herding them into a tight “bait ball”. This method forces the fish to the surface and then stun them with a slap of the tail.
