Sir Terry Frost was an English Abstractionist based in Newlyn, Cornwall. Frost began painting whilst a prisoner of war in Germany 1943, after returning from the War he attended the Camberwell school of art and the St Ives school of art. Whist in St Ives he also worked as an assistant to the sculptor Barbara Hepworth. Frost held his first solo exhibition at the Leicester Galleries in 1952. He continued to exhibit regularly in London, and his first international one-man show was held in 1961 at the Bertha Schaeffer Gallery, New York. Further solo exhibitions include the ICA, London (1971) and the Serpentine Gallery, London (1976).
