Description

Hirst’s Psalms directly reference his larger Butterfly collages. The wings of the butterfly’s separated and re-ordered, their precise placement mimics Hirst’s own thirst for collection and display. In the creation of these works Hirst references the vast and exquisite stained glass cathedral windows of Europe and the mandela in its spiritual and ritual representation of the universe. The wings of these wonderful creatures delicate and brief unite both celestial and earthy sentiment and present beauty within the realms of death.
